Lord, Do You See Yourself in Me?

April 19, 2012

“The Lord looks at the heart…” –1 Samuel 16:7

Read: 1 Samuel 16

When PrayFit VP Eric Velazquez described seeing his resemblance in his daughter’s faces, this weeping writer fought back tears. He said, “Jimmy, it’s one thing to know they’re your own flesh and blood, but when you start to see yourself, it’s simply amazing. I’m at a loss for words.” That says a lot coming from Eric, arguably one of the best writers in the country.

But you know, I want to be like Mya and Ella. Not that I want to look like Eric (handsome as he is), but the only thing I want more than being a dad one day is to be a child that resembles the Father.

Friends, we hope that’s the message you’ve heard here at PrayFit. Some enjoy the fitness tips, others the recipes. But don’t miss this: Nothing matters unless we have Jesus in our hearts. If we’re at a loss for words, our approach to wellness merely serves as a back-up to A) praise Him with our lives and B) help spread the gospel. Despite our highest highs and lowest lows, when He looks at us, it’s His own reflection He longs to see.

–Jimmy Peña

Lord, we love you. Our utmost desire is for you to live in our hearts. We seek your resemblance. See yourself, we pray. Amen.”

Jimmy, thank you for your daily messages. What drew me to your Prayfit program/website was your love for Jesus. Being a Christian and a fitness professional I have struggled in the past with bringing the Word to my clients in a way that would not be “preachy”. You have given me the encouragement to step outside my comfort zone and speak freely of my love for the Lord. You are a great role model, as well as your friends Eric, Jimmy, and Dan (Wisdom Walks). Bless you for all you do for us, but most especially for showing us the Way.

What if I am not a Christian? Is it okay to have GOD in my heart? I am a Christian but I
believe that Jesus will not turn me away because I have GOD in my heart. Is there room
    for non-Christians in PRAY FIT?

Powerfu message guys! PF is such a staple God uses to daily encourage my heart. Jesus is definitely reflected.

I am on day 13 of the Pray fit challenge and I am happy just to say that it has helped my connect the fact that God loves me to my physical health. I have struggle in the past with seeing myself and God as one and the same but the challenge has helped connect me closer to God and my goal of being spiritually, mentally and physically healthy.

WOW!!! Today’s was a message that was not just heard, but felt as well. This really touched my heart as I think about all the people I love so much and how somehow there is a small reflection of me in each of them even the ones that are not blood related!! Very powerful!! :)

Amen. All for Him or all for nothing.

Thank you for the powerful message in today’s devotion. God has allowed me long life…such a great gift. Along the way, I have met hundreds who share my faith in Christ and that alone is worth living for.

Thank you for your daily platform of Christianity. I respect you for your dedication to fitness and health, but I admire you for your adamant stand for Christ.

GOD SEES THE REFLECTION OF CHRIST IN US NO MATTER WHAT WE DO – BECAUSE HIS DEATH ON THE CROSS COVERS US WITH HIS BLOOD, AND WHEN WE BELIEVE IN CHRIST THEN GOD SEES HIS SON IN US. WE DON’T EARN IT OR DESERVE IT. OF COURSE WE NEED TO FOLLOW CHRIST SO WE CAN BE BLESSED!

Yes, Deborah. He left us instructions of this in 1 John 3:2

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.”

What power ‘love’ truly has. In reality if not of this awesome emotion, felt in a Godly manner, we would not be.
