About Us

Conceived of by fitness expert Jimmy Pena, MS, CSCS, and developed with the help of friend and fellow fitness writer Eric Velazquez, NSCA-CPT, PrayFit was designed to meet two basic needs: spiritual nourishment and physical development. In a few short years, PrayFit has become the fastest growing faith-and-fitness brand on the market, garnering the endorsements of various organizations and key influencers along the way. With a book and a DVD already to its credit, PrayFit is hoping to take its message to larger audiences in 2012.

The goal of PrayFit is to be a place where fitness-minded believers can read and memorize God’s word while pursuing a healthier lifestyle. At PrayFit, we believe that the Lord has mandated a dedication to our health. In a nation gone mad with super-sized meal deals, even the most devout believers tend to over-indulge, as evidenced by the church’s ever-widening collective waistline. It’s not just detrimental to your wardrobe – each passing day of inactivity or nutritional indiscretion is a missed opportunity at living a longer, healthier, more fruitful life.

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:19

The Lord wants you to absorb scripture daily, but He also wants you to enjoy the blessed gift of abundant health. That’s why keeping our bodies healthy should always be high on our priority lists. Happily, it doesn’t take hours on end to commit a verse to memory, or to start whittling away at a little stored body fat. PrayFit provides, in a minutes-a-day format, all the tools you need to set a course for increased faith and fitness.

“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”
— 1 Timothy 4:8

We’ll post a new verse and devotion each day, along with a fitness tip from the PrayFit team of exercise and nutrition professionals. Below each post, you can take it a step further by clicking on Comments and sharing your insight on that day’s entry.

And for those looking to spend a little longer each day to share their faith, knowledge and experience with others, we’ve got just the thing. Our Online Community, which contains forums on various faith- and fitness-geared topics, is designed to encourage fellowship through fitness and vice versa. You can also use our Workout Logs forum to create an online journal of your exercise and nutrition efforts for added accountability.

And make no mistake – PrayFit isn’t just for those who already possess a high fitness IQ, although exercisers of an intermediate or advanced level will certainly feel at home here. PrayFit is a broad-based platform that will cater to all experience levels.

In Jesus’ Name We Train,
