Becky's 33/33

Postby Becky » Mon May 14, 2012 7:16 am

Any activity that is described with a number greater than 2 intimidates me a bit. I'll try almost anything once &, as long as it's not terribly painful or dangerous, I may try it a second time, but beyond that... not so much. 33 for 33 is a HUGE leap of faith for me. Whether I develop physical strength or not, I am hoping God will develop diligence in me.

Week One's devotional thought reaffirmed what I understand from Scripture about my body & its use for the Lord. Gratitude & affectionate devotion for God got me thru the first workout.

Day Two

Postby Becky » Tue May 15, 2012 5:49 pm

Woke up this morning feeling yesterday's workout. Ouch. Must remember to stretch well & have a hot shower immediately after workouts. Think I damaged a calf with the scissor jumps 'cause it's been hurting all day.

OK, before someone calls the waaahmbulance on me....

No matter how many reps I do, I come away feeling good about giving God my very best. For one thing, it is for God & for another thing, I know He is pleased with my best effort regardless of results.

Been pondering the number of Bible verses about my body. There's a lot. It's becoming clearer to me just how important this "tent," this "temple of the living God" really is. Hmmm.

Day Three

Postby Becky » Wed May 16, 2012 3:47 pm

Totally confident I injured that calf. The pain hasn't lessened. I'm thankful it's not a constant pain. I don't do pain well.

Did I mention that I don't like to perspire either? And, I don't like to breathe hard. Recently asked about my fitness program (b/4 starting 33/33) I stated, "You know when you get that first little tingle before the sweat starts, that first little flutter in your chest before your heart rate rises? That's when I sit down with a cup of coffee for a cigarette break." Yeah, seriously.

Be encouraged, brothers & sisters! If God can bring me to physical fitness, He can surely bring you to the level of health He desires for you! :O)

To God be the sweaty, panting, painful glory!

Day Four

Postby Becky » Fri May 18, 2012 5:26 am

TV repairman in today, so no DVD. Buuuut, took vigorous exercise anyway. Praise the Lord!

Diligence, diligence, diligence.

(The calf is still fairly sore, but recovering.)

Day Five

Postby Becky » Sat May 19, 2012 5:56 am

Took a day of rest. NOT a day of lazy, but an intentional day of rest to let that calf recover. Feels much better today, thank God.

Took in some inspiration too. Biographies of the faithful encourage me to serve the Lord with zeal. And, what good is all this physical fitness stuff unless it for God's glory, to serve Him? A million years from now it won't matter that I could do 100 scissor jumps per minute, but it will matter that the strength & stamina developed by doing scissor jumps was used to edify & expand the kingdom of God on earth.

Lost A Day

Postby Becky » Sun May 20, 2012 10:53 am

I lost a day somewhere in my count. I lay it on the fact I'm not used to journaling.

At any rate, the exercises are getting easier. God's given me a few friends to exercise with, so that should make diligence a bit easier too. I'm grateful for the fellowship.

Now that I don't need the instruction, I'm free to listen to music or Scripture while I perform the exercises. That's helpful too.

Whatever encourages grateful diligence, I'm for it.

Day 8

Postby Becky » Mon May 21, 2012 6:30 am

I reckon I should've recorded my "stats" when I started to measure progress. Oops. For what it's worth... I'm a lean 135lbs with a great BMI (don't recall the exact number). With my legs I can press a little more than my body weight. With my arms I can push about 1/2 my weight & lift about 1/3 overhead. My BP is excellent at 110/70 & my sugar & cholesterol are in a healthy range too. If a slow bear were chasing me, I could run top speed (4mph) for about a mile. On a scale of poor, fair, good & excellent, my flexibility is fair.

If I gain a little strength & a little flexibility, that'd be OK. I'm really looking to gain stamina. (Another word for diligence. LOL) I tucker faster than I wish I would. And, not just in jacks & running & such. :(

Praise the Lord, I've done well & continue to exercise daily. Just haven't posted daily. I find the journaling is not a help to me & don't think it's of value to anyone else either. The 33/33 DVDs, on the other hand, are of tremendous value! Thank you, Prayfit folks, for making it available!
