JIMMY PENA, MS, CSCS, is the founder of PrayFit and has been the exercise physiologist to Tyler Perry, Mario Lopez and LL Cool J. He received his master’s degree in clinical exercise physiology from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1998. Jimmy served as the fitness director for Muscle & Fitness and Muscle & Fitness Hers magazines, authoring and editing thousands of articles on training and fitness, making him one of the nation’s most published training experts. Jimmy designed the women’s training programs for LL Cool J’s New York Times best-seller “Platinum Workout,” was the co-author of the New York Times Bestseller, “Extra Lean” by Mario Lopez and the author of the best-selling “PrayFit: Your Guide to a Healthy Body and a Stronger Faith in 28 Days.” Jimmy’s latest project, “PrayFit: 33-Day Total Body Challenge” on DVD is a collaboration with Lionsgate Entertainment. Jimmy and his wife Loretta live in Los Angeles, Calif. with their two dogs, Maddy and The Outlaw Ms. Josey Wales.

ERIC VELAZQUEZ, NSCA-CPT, is a veteran health and fitness writer and has worked for several of the industry’s top fitness publications including Muscle & Fitness, FLEX and MuscleMag. In 2005, while at Muscle & Fitness, he met Jimmy and was recruited to help lay the foundation for PrayFit. Eric has also worked as a writer for numerous other sports and fitness titles including Life Extension, Defense Media Network, Swimming World, Muscle & Performance, PowerBar, Everlast Magazine, Water Polo Around the Globe and Angels Magazine. He has produced fitness content for a wide spectrum of audiences, from the hardcore followers of elite bodybuilding to thirty-something weekend warriors just looking to get an edge. He is a graduate of Concordia University in Irvine (Calif.) and lives with his wife Wendy and their two daughters, Mya and Ella, in Orange, California.
